Getting Started

Learn how to set up your first PaperPilot project and start writing

Welcome to PaperPilot! This guide will walk you through creating your first project and understanding the core workflow.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, you'll need:

  • A modern web browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge)
  • An account on PaperPilot (sign up is free)

PaperPilot runs entirely in the cloud – no local LaTeX installation required!

Your First Project

Sign In to Your Dashboard

After logging in, you'll see your project dashboard. This is your home base for managing all your documents.

Create a New Project

Click the New Project button. You can either:

  • Start from a template (recommended for beginners)
  • Create a blank project
  • Import an existing LaTeX project

Enter the Workspace

Once your project is created, you'll enter the main workspace with:

  • File Explorer on the left
  • Editor in the center
  • PDF Preview on the right
  • AI Chat panel accessible from the sidebar

Start Writing

Open your main .tex file and begin writing. The PDF preview updates automatically as you type!
